ABC

What's wrong being an ABC(American born Chinese)? In my case, I may not be an American but the term "ABC" also applies to Chinese who are native English speakers, with some bilingual to varying degrees with Chinese. I think I can say I'm as close as American born Chinese due to my background, my education and my thinking. I spent most of my teens in International Schools, surrounded with different people of different countries, majority Americans. I grew up with tv shows of American sitcoms and series, I speak mostly English to my friends and at times with my family. Mainly one of the characteristic of an ABC is not able to read or write the Chinese language. However, it's not something I should be ashamed of! It's not the end of the world! I feel grateful for the life I had been tru'during my teen years at overseas. It really opens up my mind much more than other people in many aspect of life, and cultures. I'm dedicating this blog to those who are like me, sharing a common ground..an ABC...please don't let others push you around just because they say you are not a "pure breed" of Chinese, that you know less of your ethnicity.Held you head high as I did, and tell them, neither they are "pure breed" as it's now 21st century with growing melting pot of cultures.Held head high and say,"I'm proud to be an ABC!"

An Excursion!

On a very early dawn of Sunday morning, I, Caramel went on an excursion! Everyone was sound asleep in the house and I was getting a bit restless. Thus I was climbing around my wired cage and Oh!Joy! I discovered an opening which I believe is my skyline of my cage..I tried to stretch myself and reached out... Hehehehe!!!!!Yes...I was out! I looked around, the ground was abit high for me but hey, we hamsters are great climbers and jumpers. So, I jumped on some books on the shelf nearby, climbed down the shelf and I was on the cold ground.I wanted to go out to the garden but I can't seem to squeeze through the door under..Alas! I'm not like my cousins, the campbell dwarf hamsters...I'm way too big!

So,I wandered around aimlessly, I must had been very tired from all the stunts I did earlier because the next thing I remembered was the loud pacing of my owner looking for me...hmmm...but I wasn't ready to go back home, so I hid elsewhere under some cupboard, spending my day taking my naps..It must had been morning again 'coz I was really getting hungry.. I forgot to pack up some nuts earlier...so I peeked out! No one in sight..I saw some handful of nuts on a dish nearby..Yeah! I was so immersed with my food that I didn't noticed grandma came down and spotted me! I knew sooner or later I will be sent back home..yes.. about 10 mins later, grandpa came down and put me back in the cage

A memoir for Cinnamon..

On the afternoon,14th June 2008, my beloved hamster,Cinnamon passed away with a riping ages of 2yrs old, which most hamsters couldn't make it. Thus her departure was a special one compared to my other hamsters before her. Her departure was expected and well prepared, thus I did not cried for her too much. Just sad but mixed feeling of happiness for all the memories we had together. Thanks alot girl!

She is buried along with her other hamster friends outside my garden under the sugarcane plant and the lemon grass plant..Rest well my friend

Someone poor soul fell into the toilet bowl...

Yes,someone fell into the toilet bowl...but it ain't me!Today this interesting incident happened in my kindergarden. My class of 3 years old is joined between the washroom and the kitchen for conviniency.Therefor, I often have 4yrs old children come in and out as they please for the washroom. Due to young age,I do not encourage my 3 yrs old children to close the washroom door as I'm afraid they might locked themselves in. Came along a 4 years old girl, went to the washroom with the door closed. With good intentions, my little boys opened the door, thus shocked the little girl, lost her balance and her ass fell into the toilet bowl! As my class often filled with shouts and screams, I didn't realise any out of the ordinary with the scream until I heard a long whimpering sound and my children crowding by the washroom...

I took a peep to see what was the commotion about. There sat the little girl slightly deeper into the toilet seat with feet up in the air, trying to get out. Helping her out I asked her how did she get herself in that position, she answered, "Yasmin malu, mereka budak-budak tengok Yasmin!" I didn't know to laugh or pity her all at the same time or not..nodded, I hush the "budak-budak"out the door way, closed the door behind them, while helping lil' Yasmin to clean up.Still holding on to her dress,whimpering...I smiled at her teasingly,"Yasmin tahu malu eh?",as this girl usually runs around the school like a samseng!

Greetings to y'all for all those ppl who are celebrate Chinese New Year.Lets welcome the year of RAT, though I have to say rumors have it that Its not a good year for ppl who are born in the year of DOG, HORSE, PIG. I have known some ppl born in those zodiac encountered some bad times this year and I guess I could be included since I have yet find myself a proper job.

I'm still doing my teaching and it's scary to think that in a blink of eye, I might be teaching till end of the year. It's so hard to find a job these days, truely regret for some choices I made in University life..how I wish I knew then I should have take up a more specif course as the job market now all demanding. It's sort of sad I think 'bout how the world changed so greatly..I remember at one time career counselors urged us to follow our dreams, to encourage us to do what we love to do in life. But now it's all different!Instead we now have to tell young ones to make sure they pick up a course that would help them get a job and pays well in future..Isn't that truely sad to know the world have sort of changed into abit more materialistic?

Selfish,bossy parents...

Been 'bout 5 weeks now since I work as a kidnergarden teacher to 3 years old childrens. Some things have improved, such as the children are no longer crying in the morning for their parents now! However parents are forever left unchanged..Loads of them are young, rich parents who probably think that by enrolling their children in a good reputable kidnergarden would make up for their lacking of time spending with their children..When a child is sick, pls don't bring them school, expecially if one required to consume 4 different of bottles syrup medicine!Thank goodness, the kid like the taste of the medicine and didn't put much of a fight when fed.

As some of you might noticed why today on thursday noon I'm here typing my blog...yes..I'm MCing!Yesterday I was in deep high fever, sore throat and an eye infection after my classes. To make it so much worse, the times I had to shout to control my two most bratty kids, Damien and ZeHeng from going under and above tables..didn't not help my throat at ALL! I'm just looking foward for 7th FEb when its CNY public holidays and I do not need to deal with children and parents for 4 days(includes weekends)...Praying I will hear from other companies I applied to after CNY!

ouh-dees or cooties?

A week passed, so far there are 2 kids still bawling their eyes out when they come for school...yesterday one boy almost vomited on me..almost!!Some other idiot teacher thought could stopped him from crying by giving hime a toffee.Obviously didnt work!!!Sucking the toffee and still crying loud cause some sort of reaction on the kid and vomited!!After i cleaned him up(still crying)he wee on his pants, thank god his mummy packed him up with spare clothes!Of all kids, I only dread for him to stop crying one day!Another kid who never cries but super hyper and an great escapee! As soon as my classroom small gate is open, out he goes to the playground > :(

A malay kid named Damien(with that name, u can tell he is the mischievious one) likes to climb tables and under them, picking fights with the escapee kid! Not to forget,my dear beloved princess Kashwena, still crying but once stopped, she is an angel as can be.

So are they lil' monsters or angels, I have yet decide but everytime I put the Q-dees school song on for them to sing along, what ever frustrations I had one them will melt away to somewhere..wouldn't you if u hear Ouh-dees or Cooties when they are to say Q-dees? :)

Teacher Joyce

Call me crazy, but yes I have a temporary job as a kidnergarden teacher at Q-dees at Kinara area. The principle happens to be a fren of mine and needed teachers to help put her school. As many of you all know, I have been unemployed for quite some time, thus i decided taken up the job is a good way spending my other time, getting some sort of income, interesting education field experiences and a good fren helpin out :)

Year 2008 begins, schools started, thus this week till 21st Jan are orientation period for all students at Q-dees.Though this is a temporary job,I am given my very own personal class and students, the 3 years old children with a class named En.Piccaso!Though I only have 5 kids today, trust me when I say it's already a hand full! We had games like who crys the loudest and longest...and my arms are abit sore today as a little cute indian girl, Kashwena..yes i adore her as she is the only girl in my class..owning the title i gave her Princess.Anyways, she cried for her parents and when she did stopped finally, she wants to be carried at all times..SO I had a small cute monkey hanging around my neck..I hope it was only for today and not on her future comings.Overall I have to say it's not quite yet my cup of tea but I'm willingly to give it a try anyways..afterall I already of 2 monkey nieces staying with me..so yeah I guess I'm sort of trained..???

How Am I a Bigger Noodle Brain Than my Sister...

Today on the 26th Aug 2007, I realised and officially declaring myself a bigger noodle brain than my sister. I always like noodles, better called over here as RAMEN. I especially like those instant noodles from Japan and Taiwan cause they look just so YUMMY!!!Plus good packaging design!(Who says only what inside counts?)Anyways, I been abit under the weather these couple of days and due to my terrible sore throat, my mom made me porriage enough for lunch and dinner. I had it for lunch, I felt bored when it came to dinner time..suddenly I had a noodle craving attack!!! Not trying to waste my mom's time cooking the porriage for me, I came to a conclusion. I popped a pack of instant noodle into the boiling water, rinsed it and poured the porriage over the hot steaming noodles! Turned out ediable...so there you have it, do you know a bigger noodle brain than I?Let me know ya? :)
